Story 2. Written by Jim Waitlord

At the foot of the mountains, in a quiet village, lived a heavy-handed, sullen woodcutter known only as "Uncle Babolcsai". He was famous for not letting himself be fooled. "No one's fooling me! Don't let these city scammers come near me!" he said to everyone, taking care of his only treasure, his two brand-new chainsaws and his shiny delivery vehicle.

However, this news did not deter the cunning Jax and Slim pair.

That morning, the lumberjack was sharpening his chainsaws in a workshop outside his house when two strangers stopped in front of him. Jax smiled broadly, and Slim wore an elegant but shabby suit. They seemed to come straight from another world.

- Hello, sir. Slim said, lifting his sunglasses. - Tell me, are you interested in an exceptional option?

Uncle Babolcsai raised his eyebrows and answered with a wave.
- I don't care. Get out of here before I drive you away!

But Jax stepped forward and with a deep sigh woven into the most important tool of deceivers: a plausible, tempting story.

- Look, sir, we don't mean to take up your time, but we have a lifetime opportunity. We were invited to work in Canada! We have to cut out tree giants for money he's never seen. And to be honest, we're novice loggers, but we know you're a master! Would you like to join us?

The logger looked up slowly and met the eyes of the two men.

- Canada? Cutting down giant trees? - he murmured. - Come on!

But Jax and Slim wouldn't let it go. Day after day, they returned and painted the future more and more brilliantly: spacious wooden houses in Canada, snow-covered forests and enough money in their pockets to never have to work again.

Uncle Babolcsai was suspicious, but their story became more and more believable. Slim produced a fake contract with seals and Canadian addresses, while Jax showed a photograph of a large, pine-strewn landscape.

This is our new life, and we want to share it with you, Slim said. - I just need a small favor to get going.

- What would that be? Uncle Babolcsai asked, almost bored.

- Well, the departure is expensive, and we need your chainsaws and transport vehicle. Just until the business starts. We share the profits as a token of our gratitude and, of course, everything is back!

Uncle Babolcsai hesitated for a long time. But the two crooks were patient, and finally convinced by a decisive argument:

- If you don't think it's worth it, feel free to ask the other villagers who wouldn't make such an opportunity!

Uncle Babolcsai finally surrendered. Not only did he lend them his chainsaws and transport vehicle, but he even gave them two thousand dollars to have petrol and food money for the trip.

That afternoon Jax and Slim went away happily. By the time the night came down, everything was sold for a a fraction of its value and disappeared like camphor.

When Uncle Babolcsai found out that he had been tricked, all his village laughed at him. He would have rushed after them, but Slim left a message on the workshop wall that explained everything:

"This is life, Aunt Babolcsai."
